THREAD LIFTING

Thread Lifting is different to the threads you will often see on social media. Nurses and medical practitioners can insert threads without lifting to improve collagen production, but the results are not as significant as a thread lifting procedure.

Our Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon carries out all thread lifting procedures at Erase. These procedures are done under local anaesthetic but can cause considerable discomfort during and for 24 – 48 hours after the procedure. Thread lifting is not a facelift but the results are very positive for most patients as redundant skin in the jowl and cheek areas is hitched upwards and backwards.

 

The results continue to improve over a period of 3 – 6 months as new collagen is formed around the dissolving threads. We only use Mint threads, a Korean product, which we agree causes the least trauma to the face with the best results.

THREADLIFTING

HOW MUCH IS A THREADLIFITNG PROCEDURE?

A consultation with our surgeon is required to ascertain the number of threads required for a good outcome, but generally the cost is between $5000 - $6000 for an initial procedure. Post-procedure adjustments or additional thread placements may be required, although the cost for this is much less as less threads are required.

WHAT IF I’M NOT HAPPY WITH THE OUTCOME?

This is all about managing your expectations. Thread lifting is not as effective as a facelift, but for many people a facelift is too expensive or the requirement for hospital admission and several weeks of recovery is not appealing. Thread lifting will give a reasonable result if there is not too much skin laxity and the ongoing collagen deposition continues to improve the outcome over time.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER A THREADLIFTING PROCEDURE?

You will be quite bruised and swollen for a few days so we only do these procedures on Fridays to give patients at least a weekend to recover. The procedure is done under local anaesthetic but once it wears off you will feel quite sore and tight. Our surgeon will prescribe something to help you manage your pain and is always available by phone if you are concerned. The complication rate for thread lifting is very low, providing you follow your post-care instructions and rest quietly for 48 hours.

HOW SOON WILL I SEE THE RESULTS?

You can see the results immediately following the procedure and you will continue to see ongoing improvement as the threads dissolve over several weeks and collagen deposition is stimulated.
